Ghufron’s Lawyer Asks KPK Dewas Not to Force Cases of Alleged Ethics

Jakarta, Hilton News

The lawyer of KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron, Ario Montana, asked the KPK Supervisory Board not to force cases of alleged violations of his client’s code of ethics.

Ario said based on the verdict registered with case number: 142/G/TF/2024/PTUN. JKT, Dewas KPK must comply with the decision because it has legal implications.

“We as legal representatives will continue to oversee this PTUN case. The hope is for Dewas to obey the results of interlocutory decisions from the PTUN and the SOPs they have made. Do not impose things that are beyond authority and capacity, because that can certainly have legal consequences,” Ario said in Jakarta, Tuesday (21/5).

Ario said that in the interlocutory decision, the Jakarta State Administrative Court ordered the KPK Dewas to postpone the reading of the decision of the Nurul Ghufron code of ethics and code of conduct hearing.

“If we look at the interlocutory decision of case 142, the judge has made considerations and judged that the KPK organization should postpone the examination of the case,” he said.

Ario emphasized that the KPK Dewas must comply with the regulation so that it must postpone the examination of Ghufron’s ethics case until the administrative examination process at the PTUN is complete.

Ario said the accusation by the KPK Dewas to his client that he had intervened against the Ministry of Agriculture which had not been forced more than a year ago was an ethical violation.

“There is a rule regarding the expiration time limit for examination by the KPK Dewas, which is for 1 year. If it is indeed Dewas who created the rule, it must be obeyed. Don’t force things that have passed 1 year,” he said.

Previously, the KPK Dewas decided to postpone the hearing on the reading of the decision on the code of ethics and code of conduct of KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron which was supposed to be held on Tuesday (21/5).

Chairman of the KPK Dewas Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean explained that the delay followed up on the order of the panel of judges of the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) in an interlocutory decision read yesterday, Monday (20/5).

“We have received according to what has been contained in the e-court information system, so we receive it directly from the e-court. Therefore, we consider it official to come from the Registrar of the TUN Court,” said Tumpak.
