Pegi Setiawan alias Pegi alias Perong has been named as a suspect by the police. Pegi is suspected of masterminding the murder and rape of Vina that occurred in Cirebon in 2016.
“The PS suspect (Pegi Setiawan) is suspected to be the mastermind of the murder case accompanied by rape that occurred eight years ago,” said West Java Regional Police Public Relations Head Jules Abraham Abast, Wednesday (23/5) night.
Jules said Pegi during his time as a fugitive often moved places, making it difficult for officers to arrest him. Finally, Pegi was arrested in the Kopo area, Bandung City.
“The police had difficulty tracking down Perong. (Perpetrator) Moving places, including Cirebon and Bandung, “he said.
In addition to moving places, Jules said, Pegi has also changed his name to Robi.
“The suspect has also changed his name to Robi. But the police eventually managed to track down the suspect’s whereabouts while working as a construction porter. He changed his name. The call at work (construction porters) claimed to be Robi,” he said.
Previously, Pegi Setiawan alias Perong, one of the DPOs in the Vina and Rizky alias Eky cases in Cirebon, was arrested in Bandung on Tuesday (21/5) night
“It has been arrested, in the name of Pegi Setiawan,” said the Director of General Criminal Investigation of West Java Regional Police, Wednesday (22/5).
Now, the police are still pursuing two other fugitives in this case, namely Andi and Dani.
Police have also searched Perong’s house in Cirebon. Investigators seized a number of items during a search of his residence.
Nevertheless, Surawan has not revealed what items were brought from Pegi’s residence. Including, whether the seized items are related to Vina’s murder case or not.
