Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto confirmed that the first thing he will do with the vice presidential candidate if he gets a mandate as president of Indonesia in 2024 is to provide free lunch for school children.
“Once the mandate is given to us, the first step, we must provide nutritious food for all children in Indonesia,” Prabowo said in a campaign at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GLBA), Bandung, Thursday (8/2).
He reminded that the program aims to form smart and strong children.
According to Prabowo, this is important so that the next generation of the nation is able to compete with other nations.
“Brethren, the nutritious free lunch will make our children strong, our children brains, intelligent bones strong, muscles strong and will grow into great young men, who can compete with other nations,” he said.
In addition to free meals, the Prabowo-Gibran couple is also determined to create food self-sufficiency that no longer relies on imports from outside countries.
Prabowo promised that he would pay attention to the welfare of farmers and fishermen.
“Brothers and sisters, we will be self-sufficient in food, we don’t want to import it from outside. Our farmers must prosper, our fishermen must prosper. All our people must live well, prosperously,” Prabowo said.
