The number two presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, went to his mother’s hometown in Langowan, Minahasa, North Sulawesi, Monday (5/2). This visit was made a day after the fifth debate of the 2024 Presidential Election which was held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Sunday (4/2) night.
“The land of Minahasa, especially Langowan, has a special meaning for Prabowo. The reason is, from there the origin of the ancestors of the Prabowo family from his mother’s side, Dora Marie Sigar,” said a written statement on Tuesday (6/2).
During his stay in Langowan, Prabowo carried out a number of activities, such as making pilgrimages and sowing flowers at the grave of his extended family, Sigar Maengkom.
In addition, he also visited GMIM Sentrum Church to review the statue of the Schwarz Missionary, a statue restored by Prabowo as a personal donation to the Minahasa Christian community.
He then continued the activity by greeting the Langowan community who had been faithfully waiting for him at Schwarz Square since morning. North Sulawesi residents even welcomed Prabowo’s arrival along the road from Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado, to Langowan.
Shouts of the name ‘Prabowo’ echoed. They also wear various supporting attributes, such as T-shirts with his face on them, to party flags.
Not only that, the welcome for Prabowo along the way was even more lively with the playing of songs that were so synonymous with Prabowo-Gibran’s paslon, such as the song ‘Oke Gas, Prabowo-Gibran Most Pas’.
