SYL’s Prince Intervenes to Appoint Name for Ministry of Agriculture Department

Jakarta, Hilton News

The son of former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), Kemal Redindo is said to have interfered in proposing certain names to fill positions in the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (Kemenan).

In fact, Kemal is not an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture but the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the South Sulawesi Provincial Government.

This was explored through the knowledge of the Head of the Organization and Personnel Bureau of the Ministry Zulkifli presented by the KPK prosecutor team in a follow-up hearing of the case of alleged extortion and receipt of gratuities at SYL et al at the Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (22/5).

Initially, prosecutor Meyer Simanjuntak continued to question Zulkifli about the matter. However, Zulkifli’s answer was not satisfactory so SYL’s legal team objected.

Chief Judge Rianto Adam Pontoh then took over the trial.

“So, the public prosecutor’s question, brother Dindo, you said earlier from the South Sulawesi Provincial Government. Then, if I heard correctly, he also proposed names to occupy certain positions in the ministry,” said the judge.

“Then the brother just replied discussed. Why wasn’t it rejected from the beginning because this is an outsider? That’s the question. Easy to answer,” the judge continued.

Zulkifli admitted that he only followed the orders of the defendant Kasdi Subagyono, who was then Secretary General of the Ministry. Dindo’s proposal, explained Zulkifli, has also been known by echelon I officials at the Ministry.

“That the proposer was Dindo’s brother?” the judge asked.

“Yes, the first echelon also knows,” said Zulkifli.

“Echelon I also knows, but it’s still discussed too?” said the judge.

“Discussed. Hence, the importance of the team is for..,” Zulkifli replied which was immediately cut off by the judge.

“Yes, why is it discussed? This is an outsider. That was the public prosecutor’s question. What elements are there trying? Just answer the easy one,” the judge asked.

“Because all employees who are on the list proposed to be discussed, as long as he is qualified are included for His Excellency’s discussion,” Zulkifli said.

“Even if it’s from someone else who is not in the Ministry of Agriculture?” the judge asked.

“What I understand because the first echelon also knows, Mr. Secretary General as our superior, we report also know, and it is included in the list discussed by the team,” said Zulkifli.

Today, Wednesday (22/5), the KPK prosecutor team called eight witnesses from the Indonesian Ministry internally.

They are Fadjry Djufry (Head of the Agricultural Instrument Standardization Agency); Bekti Subagja (Head of the General Section of the Secretariat of the Agricultural Research and Development Agency); Zulkifli (Head of the Organization and Personnel Bureau of the Ministry); Rininta Octarini (Protocol of the Minister of Agriculture).

Then Rio Nugraha (Staff of the General and Procurement Bureau / Special Staff of Mentan); Firmansyah (Head of the Secretary-General’s Administration Team and Ministerial Expert Staff); Hendra Putra (Director of PT Haka Cipta Loka and Haka Loka); and Fajar Noviansyah (Director of CV Maksima Selaras Budi).

SYL was tried for alleged extortion of up to IDR 44,546,079,044 and gratuities were considered bribes of IDR 40,647,444,494 during the 2020-2023 period.

The crime was committed by SYL together with two other defendants, namely Secretary General of the Ministry Kasdi Subagyono and Director of Agricultural Tools and Machinery, Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

SYL was also prosecuted by the KPK for alleged Money Laundering (TPPU). The case is still rolling in the investigation stage.
