Deputy Head of the National Campaign Team (TKN) of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition Zita Anjani said that people do not need to worry about those who link Prabowo Subianto’s past with the rise of the New Order.
Along with the temporary victory of the Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming pair in the 2024 general election through Quick Count and counting on the official website of the General Elections Commission (KPU), controversy has emerged.
According to Zita, fear has no clear origin. He also reminded the public to be patient waiting for the announcement of the final election results.
“I appeal to the public not to respond to things that have the potential to cause horizontal conflicts. The fears that arise are not clear. After all, this is still Quick Count. Direct counting at the KPU is still running. We must still respect the end result,” Zita said.
For Zita, Prabowo and Gibran are figures who uphold democracy, and are willing to listen to people’s complaints. Therefore, he disagrees with the notion that democracy is dead.
He considered Prabowo a true statesman.
“He does have a military background, but when it comes to the people, he has said many times ‘I am willing to die for the people’. Subhanallah. Gibran also seems to me a visionary young person and is able to embrace talented young Indonesians. So all these allegations and issues I think are exaggerated to create chaos,” Zita continued.
