Observers Value Prabowo-Gibran as Key to Indonesian Democracy

Jakarta, Hilton News

The superiority of the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming in the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres) is considered evidence of Indonesia’s democratic process.

This was revealed by political observer Igor Dirgantara, who stated that despite losing twice in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, Prabowo still consistently fought on the path of democracy.

“Finally, in the 2024 election, Prabowo can reap the fruits of his struggle. It’s exhausting, but it bears sweet fruit on the constitutional road. This means, Prabowo is now the Man of the Moment who was democratically elected by the people as President 2024-2029,” Igor told reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday (13/3).

According to Igor, Prabowo understands the democratic process is tiring and requires large costs, which is shown through Prabowo’s statement following a temporary lead in the 2024 presidential election.

“Prabowo understands that democracy in Indonesia is very expensive. Therefore, Indonesia does need strong and decisive leadership after Jokowi’s leadership to return democracy to the hands of the people, not to the hands of financiers or capital owners,” he said.

Therefore, Igor admitted that he was not worried about Prabowo-Gibran’s leadership in the future. He believes that Prabowo as a state figure already knows the need for checks and balances that are important to accept criticism and appreciate opposition attitudes.

Furthermore, Igor predicts that Indonesian democracy will run better under the leadership of Prabowo-Gibran, where both have undergone a democratic process that is not instantaneous.

“Prabowo is a good example of how to build a party from scratch, not a hitchhiker, not a party officer, let alone a party employee. Prabowo knows the most important pillar of democracy is political parties,” Igor said.
