Police have arrested Pegi Setiawan alias Pegi alias Perong who is wanted in the Vina Cirebon murder case. After eight years of the case, the police finally arrested Pegi in Bandung, West Java.
After being arrested, the police immediately conducted a search at Pegi’s residence in Kepompongan Village, Cirebon Regency, West Java, Wednesday (22/5).
Quoting from detikJabar, local resident Masniah (51) said the police came around 14.00 WIB.
“The police came at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, there were two cars coming,” he told detikJabar.
He said the house searched by the police was the house owned by the grandmother of Pegi Setiawan who has now been arrested by West Java Regional Police officers.
“Yes, it’s true that the house that was ransacked had his grandmother Pegi Setiawan,” he said.
Masniah said Pegi was known as the first of four children. During this time, he said, residents knew Pegi lived with his grandmother there.
He said Pegi had been known to work as a construction porter. In fact, he said, it is known that Pegi had only worked as a builder in Bandung for a week with his father before reportedly being arrested by the police.
“As far as I know, he (Pegi Setiawan) stone a week to Bandung to work as a construction porter. He said that he was working on a restaurant there (Bandung),” he said.
“He went to Bandung, but there he also participated in the cooperation of his father who became a building porter as well,” he said.
So far there has been no information from the police regarding the search of Pegi’s grandmother’s house.
Previously reported, a DPO in the name of Pegi Setiawan alias Perong has now been arrested by the West Java Regional Police (West Java). Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirkrimum) of West Java Regional Police Kombes Surawan said Pegi had been arrested in Bandung last night. At this time, he has been secured for questioning.
“Yes, that’s right. On behalf of Pegi Setiawan, it was secured last night in Bandung,” Surawan said when contacted by reporters, Wednesday (22/5/2024).
Pegi aka Perong is known to be the DPO of the Vina Cirebon case with Andi and Dani. However, Surawan has not provided further details regarding the arrest.
