Jakarta, Hilton News –
Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto expressed his commitment to continue the downstream policy as carried out by President Joko Widodo.
According to Prabowo, a similar commitment was also carried out by his companion, Gibran Rakabuming, and the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM). The determination was conveyed in front of tens of thousands of North Sulawesi people who filled Schwarz Square, Langowan on Monday (5/2).
“Mr. Jokowi once told me ‘Mas Bowo, it is impossible for Indonesia to prosper if we sell our materials abroad’. For that, I, Prabowo-Gibran with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, we are determined to safeguard Indonesia’s wealth,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo revealed, Indonesia is a very rich country. These various riches should be enjoyed by the Indonesian people themselves, and not the other way around.
“At every opportunity and province I go to, I always say that our country proves to be a very rich country. But, it has been a long time since our wealth was taken and brought abroad, and not enjoyed by all Indonesian people, “he explained.
Downstream is emphasized to be important for Indonesia because it can increase the added value of products or natural resources owned.
Previously, Jokowi had taken downstream policy steps that stopped the sale of Indonesia’s natural wealth in raw form and at low prices abroad.
Prabowo said, downstream is a way for Indonesia’s wealth to have added value that will have an impact on the welfare of the people.
“We want to manage (Indonesia’s wealth). We want to take care of it, we want to manage the wealth so that the added value can be enjoyed by all Indonesian people,” Prabowo said.
