Jakarta, Hilton News –
Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received a visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles at the Indonesian Ministry of Defense office, Central Jakarta, Friday (23/2).
Richard’s arrival is only a few days away from the visit of the Australian Chief of the Defence Force (CDF), General Angus Campbell who was welcomed by Prabowo at the same location, Tuesday (20/2).
Prabowo said Richard’s visit would further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Indonesia and Australia in various fields.
According to Prabowo, good relations between Indonesia and Australia have been established for a long time. Both countries, Prabowo said, are equally determined to be good neighbors.
“We are close neighbors, we are destined to be close neighbors and we are determined to be close neighbors, good neighbors,” Prabowo said
Prabowo explained, he and Richard also agreed that the two countries continue to maintain good relations, especially in the fields of education, economy, culture, and defense.
“We are determined to foster this good relationship in various fields, education, economy, culture, military so yes there are many dimensions,” he said.
“But, I think education is one of the areas that we discuss quite often, as you know, one of our main focuses is to provide education to people,” Prabowo explained.
This was said by Prabowo, because currently there are several Australian campuses established in Indonesia. Therefore, Prabowo sees Australia as a very good partner in the field of education.
“I think some Australian universities there are opening campuses in Indonesia. Some have made serious progress so there are many areas that we are seeing and there is significant progress,” Prabowo said.
Therefore, Prabowo is very appreciative and determined to focus on maintaining good relations with Australia and other neighboring countries.
“Our focus now is to maintain the best relations with all neighbours and thankfully we have achieved that all friendships with our neighbours at this time especially Australia, we value it very much,” Prabowo concluded.
