Jakarta, Hilton News —
Indonesia has many talented young architects with beautiful and beautiful designs. This uniqueness, according to President Commissioner of Urbahn International, Rafi Haikal, can be an attraction for foreign investors to work together to build Indonesia.
“The talents of Indonesia’s young generation are not inferior to international. In my opinion, in terms of design and aesthetics, Indonesian talents are better. This uniqueness can be used to attract foreign investors and architects to collaborate,” he said in a written statement, Thursday (4/4).
He conveyed this in an experience sharing session at the Real Estate Class Program of the Center for Strategic Entrepreneurial Leadership University of Indonesia (CSELUI) Real Estate Class at the UI Salemba Campus, Jakarta, Saturday (23/3). This class also presented President Director of Urbahn International Jakarta Jens H. Muller as a resource person about Building Life Cycle.
On that occasion, Haikal explained that there are differences in the concept of architects in the US and Indonesia. In New York, architects are like health workers.
Before they can open a practice, they must have a diploma, complete five years of study, and have approximately 3 thousand hours of work experience or about three years. After three years of work, they have to take about 6-7 exams and get a certificate for practice and a certificate.
“That’s almost the same process as a doctor. We must apply it for the health and comfort of the people of New York,” said the youngest son of Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan.
He continued, in addition to certification, to run a business in Indonesia must also have several project implementing companies. This is in contrast to in the US, where one company can handle all aspects of a project.
Previously, Haikal and Urbahn International had facilitated business and investment forum activities between the Nusantara Capital Authority and United States businesses in November 2023.
“After getting the green light for the Urbahn in America, the first thing we did was invite Nusantara’s investment team to New York to participate in a business and investment forum. We have a forum of about 100 people from investors, real estate architects, and developers to learn about Indonesia,” he said.
According to him, with the growth of GDP and the development of the middle class, Indonesia is the right market to be offered abroad. In addition, most of the people are young people so when bringing the Nusantara authority to New York, the forum is more interesting to Indonesia as a whole.
In addition, in his view Indonesia has a very new opportunity in the New York market. The Indonesian government also has an excellent external investment program, including special economic zones for attractive projects for outside investors.
In addition, he added, Indonesia has also prepared attractive investment packages, including 30 years of tax holidays and others. All of these can be used by business actors to learn practices and sell Indonesia as an investment opportunity, not only domestically, but also in Malaysia, Singapore, and Europe.
For information, Urbahn International is an architectural consulting company based in New York, United States that has been established since 1945. In the United States, Urbahn International currently has 71 projects still underway in different phases with a construction value of US$5.9 billion.
In Indonesia, the company consists of PT Urbahn Architects International with a focus on design and PT Urbahn Consulting International with a focus on finding technical consultants from outside, as well as connecting with Indonesian businesses, and attracting investors to Indonesia. Haikal added, PT Urbahn Architects Internasional focuses on finding personnel from Indonesia because it has an antique design and is not inferior.
“In Indonesia with very good potential, it can make a very beautiful and beautiful building so that investors and architects from abroad can work with us. So, those are things that can be used for Indonesian companies because the design potential in Indonesia is much greater,” he concluded.
