Jakarta, Hilton News –
Policeofficially named a lurah who is also a midwife in Prabumulih, South Sumatra, ZN (51) as a suspect in alleged malpractice that led to the death of a patient there. The midwife is considered to have violated the Health Law.
“Yes, that’s right, the person concerned ZN has been determined as a suspect related to the Health Law,” said Head of Public Relations of South Sumatra Regional Police Kombes Pol Sunarto, Tuesday (21/5), quoting from detikSumbagsel.
ZN was charged with article 441 paragraphs 1 and 2, article 312 letter B, article 439 of Law number 17 of 2023 concerning Health.
“With the threat of 5 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp500 thousand,” said Sunarto.
ZN has so far been questioned intensively with suspect status, and has not been detained on the grounds that investigators are cooperative enough.
“(ZN was not detained because) according to investigators that the person concerned was quite cooperative. Is undergoing intensive questioning as a suspect,” he explained.
Previously, the case of a midwife who also served as a sub-district in Prabumulih, Z suspected of malpractice was investigated by the police.
The case caused a stir on social media because a Rusdalia patient (59) died as a result of the alleged malpractice.
Prabumulih AKBP police chief Endro Ariwibowo earlier this month said police had visited the scene and conducted a crime scene at the midwife’s office.
There, police are also looking for a number of items of evidence related to the alleged malpractice. In addition, police have also questioned ZN, her husband, a nephew and the local RT chairman.
“We are looking for witnesses who know the midwife’s practice activities so far and have taken statements as many as four people, the head of the RT, the midwife’s nephew, the midwife’s husband and the midwife,” he said.
Not only that, he continued, the relevant Prabumulih Health Office and the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) have also been asked for information to investigate the case.
“We have also asked for witness statements from Prabumulih Health Office officials and IBI officials, two witnesses have been taken,” he said.
